CY Innovations Supports Small Contractors

The Manjimup Shire Council in the south west of Western Australia has introduced a new contractor safety policy which ensures the Shire’s commitment to safety includes their Contractors and the Contractor’s employees. This extremely positive and timely initiative by the Shire raises the importance of workplace safety by committing every Contractor working for the Shire to demonstrate an acceptable level of safety focus by implementing a safety management system.

Mike McGinty, Managing Director of CY Innovations, says “The difficulty for some Contractors, particularly smaller ones, is that they don’t know where to start or how to set up a workable safety management system.” He cautions, “And after submitting the required policies, plans, procedures and forms to the Shire they are then required to demonstrate they are complying to them. It is therefore vital the safety management system suits their business.”

“CY Innovations has experience in setting up practical systems and has offered to assist contractors to meet the Shire’s requirements.” he continues. “We have example templates of policies, plans, procedures and forms plus the QSE Smart software, all of which we are happy to supply free of charge to small Contractors. We are also offering our services for a reasonable fee to larger Contractors who wish to develop a process based safety management system from scratch or improve their existing system.”
